Dear All,

This is to inform you with great pleasure that we(the students of MSc - Biotechnology of SIES College, Sion) have decided to have our very own festival on the 14th of September 2009 at SIES College, Sion. With the guidance and tutelage of our HOD - Ms. Tara Menon and our supporting teachers we hope this fest is a rocking one !

The fest is called GenoGrazia.
The tagline follows 'Mutate your style'.
Grazia in italian means 'grace'.

The essence of the festival is to do it in style with full grace.

Hi,
This is the format for applying to any institute for summer training.
Whenever u r applying through email, attach ur resume. You can also attach a scanned copy of the recommendation letter which will be given to you by ur HOD.

As a part of the curriculum for M.Sc (part 2) as prescribed by Mumbai university we are required to undergo a “summer project” for a duration of three(/ 3-6 )months (may-july2010).

I am fascinated and deeply interested in the project work carried out in your lab.

At places where u r applying personally like BARC, you need to carry printouts of ur resume, cover letter (signed) and a xerox copy of the recommendation letter.Also mention the duration of training period because they mostly prefer trainees who r willing to work for more than 3 months.


P.S: get printouts of this along wid ur rec letter and C.V on monday(2mrw) to college, v r starting to go to diff institutes from 2mrw itself

Standard Operating Procedure-Water Distillation Plant

Distillation is simply the most effective and reliable method of producing pure drinking water. It has been an essential part of nature since the earth began. The heat of the sun evaporates water from the earth's surface into the atmosphere, leaving impurities behind. As the vapor cools, it condenses and falls back to the earth as rain, snow or other forms of precipitation. Distillation is a water purification process that uses a heat source to vaporize water and separate it from contaminants and other undesirable elements commonly found in ground and surface water. Distillation heats raw (untreated) water until the water reaches its boiling point and begins to vaporize. The heat is then kept at a constant temperature to maintain water vaporization while prohibiting other undesirable elements from vaporizing. Water has a lower boiling point than salt and other mineral sediments. This process also separates the water molecules from microscopic, disease-causing organisms. Once all of the water has vaporized, the vapour is led into a condenser, where, upon cooling, the water reverts to the liquid form and runs into a receiving container. The remaining elements, whose boiling point was too high to permit vaporization, remain in the original container and constitute the sediment. Because the distillation process can never ensure a complete separation between water and other materials, it is often repeated one or more times with the treated water. Many alcoholic beverages, like brandy, gin, and whiskey, are distilled, using an apparatus similar in constitution to the water distillation apparatus
